Eimear & Jeff | Annacarriga | Killaloe | Wedding

It was a pleasure to shoot Eimear and Jeffs wedding, which was in our own splendid city of Limerick. I can safely say, it was the first time we have ever walked to work. It was a total novelty. Turns out we are indeed neighbours! We were over the moon when they suggested we use our neck of the woods for the photoshoot. We are very lucky to live in the oldest and most historic part of Limerick City. Known to some as the Medieval Quarter! How wonderful to finally get a gorgeous couple who wanted to use it the backdrop to their wedding. We had shot Daves wedding (Jeffs brother) a few years previous. I knew we were in for some serious fun and giggles, the boys are nothing short of a shower of loveable rogues and Eimears family are just amazing warm people. I know we were only a stones throw from our house, but we just felt at home amongst this wedding party. The power of a hometown welcome. I think that you will love Eimears details and attention to detail. She is such a creative soul. Months and weeks were spent prepping. Before we even left the house I was singing her praises, all the flower girls with garlands in their hair accompanied by darling pageboys in shirts of baby blue. Jars of wild flowers adorned The Hunt Museum and garden. I don’t think I have seen Annacarriaga looking more perfect. A hundred little happy quotes were to be found in the marquee, succulents, lanterns, pompoms, lavender and so much more. On a strange weather day, we were wrapped up in pastel shades of ivory soft greens and blues. It was all so very gentle, so very Eimear. There was a “Shoot Out” to keep the boys entertained too. In true Limerick style we experienced one hundred different types of weather in one day. As we stood under the shadow of King Johns Castle, there was thunder and lightening, which has taken the place of warm afternoon sunshine. When we got out to Annicarriga there was a storm a brewing. You could see it coming fast across the lake. Fair play to our couple though they didn’t let a storm get in the way of their photos, the mix of weather made some really dramatic shots. Before we left that night, Eimear had one last surprise. A change of dress, which wowed us and all of her guests as Jeff whirled her effortlessly around the floor out into the moonlight.
Every time I think of this wedding I can’t help but smile. Eimear and Jeff are a couple who threw the rule book out the window and had a wedding just the way they wanted. I loved how Eimear walked across the bridge with her Mum to meet Jeff who was waiting patiently to see his stunning bride. It was a first look for Jeff and all their guests, just so lovely. What stole my heart though, the real magic of the day, was when Jeff placed the veil over Eimear just before they both walked up the aisle, together. I can think of nothing more poignant than that moment. A couple walking into their marriage vows together, can there be anything more powerful or exquisite?
