Mary & Robert | Dorset | Lovebirdshoot

With out doubt I have fallen head first, madly in love with this couple.

Their love is the sweetest and gentlest I have seen in a long time.

Their love is magical.

It is pure.

We first met Mary & Robert back in October, the afternoon of the Heineken cup match between Leinster and Exeter Chiefs. We had been in contact by mail and phone long before. I was buzzing with excitement and nerves by the time they walked into the lounge of the Westbury Hotel that afternoon. Robert had thought that he was the only one mailing us abut their wedding photography , he was wrong. Mary had too. The whole hour long I was was repeating in my head “Don’t blow it Kate, Don’t open your mouth, Um hum, Don’t ruin the surprise.” It was a long hour! I really cant remember much of the meeting other than the howls of laughter and us saying sure we would travel to Dorset to capture a lovebird shoot…  no seriously we really would… and more laughter.. then hugs and wishing them well with the rest of their Saturday afternoon to which Robert had said he would love to go and watch the match….. then silence and myself and Sean staring at the two of them.

Mary said “Okay so lets go watch the match”, *we look to Robert* “Okay where do you want to watch it?”, * We look back to Mary* “No, Rob lets go WATCH the match!” *We look to Robert, who now looks confused* “What?” *I’m now looking at the two of them about to EXPLODE!* Mary is like “Rob, I got you tickets, lets go watch the match!” Only for Robert was sitting down I think he may have keeled over! So with lots of laughter and smiles off they went to enjoy their afternoon. It was such a lovely surprise to witness I was giddy all afternoon. Thats Mary though, such a sweetheart.

After a Christmas it was time to get this road trip.. well on the road. When we left Dublin airport that March morning I was so so tired, I am not a morning person. That totally changed when I saw this headline, there was going to be snow and LOTS of it. When we landed in Bristol I ran straight outside. Imagine the scene from Cool Runnings, thats what happened me. I have never felt cold like it. Sadly there was no snow. No snow all weekend. Rob reckons I am some kind of global warming phenomena and that I would make a fortune working for airports. Dorset was the only place not to get snow in the Uk that weekend. Like not even a flake!

Anyway, Rob collected us and we drove around the most beautiful country side. Sean and Rob chatted about Landrover love and other boy stuff and I day dreamed about becoming Mary and Robs neighbour. Seriously its that lovely there.{There is this farm down the road from them with and honesty box where you buy eggs and just throw the money in a box, and those honesty boxes are every where with different things to buy} We went for a pub lunch and I discovered my love of Ale, we chatted about the next day, the Lovebirdshoot, we took a stroll around the town it was magical. By the time Mary got home from work I was fully convinced that we were staring in our own Brigid Jones or The Holiday type of movie. Mary & Rob took us off for dinner that evening to a little pub/cottage in the hillside, {Daniel Craig goes there just so you know} major chats were had over amazing food and wine. It struck me at that point, how wonderful these two were. Inviting us into their home, showing us around the country side and sharing some epic stories. We could have been anyone! It was very funny the next morning when Rob said “Thanks for not being axe murders!”

That day was cold and totally epic. We saw some of the most amazing places, the pebbliest, longest and coldest beach on the planet, the best hot chocolate ever, Dumbledoor… okay Durdle Door, Lulworth Cove, watched cars get stuck in the mud and witnessed Marys awesome driving skills, saw crazy people diving off rocks into the icy cold water, had some ale, got a history lesson on the incredible Sherborne Abbey, met Robs adorable parents hehehe and listened to Sean’s dodgy accent, had some ale, strolled across Ladys Mile…. and finally home sweet home for a quick change and we were whisked off to another hidden gem of a pub for dinner…. and pork crackling

It was with sad hearts that we headed back to the airport the next day. There is a song that is special to Mary and Rob. It came on as we were driving up to the airport and we all sang along in unison. It was the most perfect ending to a most special weekend.

Mary and Rob, Thank you for a weekend we will never forget.
